Only 5 days left to impart all the important things I want to re-emphasize to my 2ndies .  Not all important things are reading and math.

Happy Birthday, Lillian Hoban

The youngest of three children, Lillian Hoban was born in Philadelphia on May 18, 1925. She attended the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, studied dance for ten years (and danced with the Martha Graham dancers), taught Modern Dance and danced professionally in the 1950s.  She died on July 17, 1998 in Manhattan, New York, at the age of 73.

She learned to draw still life and began to write her own stories only after having children (Phoebe, Brom, Esme and Julia), and based her tales on their experiences.

My favorite of her many books is the Francis series.  Her husband wrote them and she did the illustrations.
